Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both the High Heavens and the Burning Hells, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor -- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris. Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game's physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game's random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play will be available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment's renowned online gaming service, Battle.net®. Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. Further information about the game, including details on the other character classes, major new features for the single-player and multiplayer components, system requirements, pricing, and availability, will be announced as development progresses. "To The Fairest" Finalist in the Blizzard Ataris Contest. Song: The Ataris - Not Capable of Love. The slightly redone version of my entry for the WoW machinima contest. I made it to the top 10 finalists with it, and was exceptionally happy with that. (From the votes when it closed, I was 4th place.) There was a lot of competition from expert Machinima makers. Now that the competition is over, I uploaded and enabled it here. This was my first attempt at a Machinima video, I used Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements, Fraps, and Modelviewer. VERY HEAVY SNOW during California Blizzard - January 5, 2008
Here is yet another video update from the intense blizzard that has been slamming the California Mountains for the last few days. This video shows snowfall rates of about 4 inches per hour under an intense convective cell! Thundersnow and lightning were common during this part of the snow storm! StarCraft 2 Announced by Blizzard! - CINEMATIC TRAILER
StarCraft 2 will be an RTS largely in the same vein as its predecessor. The game will feature the same three races: Protoss, Zerg, and Terran. Action will unfold on the same type of 2D plane as before, with multitiered maps that ground units must use ramps to move between. Graphics have been updated significantly, many new units added, and some old units removed. Blizzard was unwilling to divulge much about how the Zerg and Terran forces have changed, but shed some light on the new developments for the Protoss. Story specifics are still being kept under wraps, though from the concept art it seems Kerrigan will somehow be involved. The game will release "when it's done" for PC and Mac only. It's currently in pre-alpha stages of development, and has been in production at Blizzard since the release of WarCraft 3: The Frozen Throne in 2003.

Dec 19th Lake Effect Snow and Mini Blizzard in Ontario
Strong winds and bitterly cold temperatures dipping down to -24C combined to produce incredible lake effects snows and blizzard conditions across much of Southern Ontario. I decided to venture out to the SW near Lake Huron and ended up in the town of Forest were conditions were terrible. The music represents some of the songs I listened to on the way down.

Starcraft 2 CGI Announcement Trailer "Hell, it's about time"
The Screen Says: "TERRAN MARINE MILITARY STATUS: --- ACTIVE ---" She says: "All Marines, Prepare to go" At the end, he says: "Hell, It's About Time" StarCraft II is a sequel to the real-time strategy game StarCraft, announced on May 19, 2007, at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Seoul, South Korea. StarCraft II is being developed for concurrent release on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X. Though currently no release date has been given, it has been stated that development on the game began shortly after Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne back in 2003 and that the game development is "very far along and already playable in multiplayer with all three races". The game will feature the Havok physics engine, allowing "debris [to] roll down a ramp", as well as improved 3D graphics. Its lead designer is Dustin Browder.
