It sounds like a piano when played clean, why play it like a guitar with distortion!? D8

If I had a 12 string, I'd tune the middle octave string a fifth lower (i.e. Ebe Aea Dad Gdg). That way, you have an instant power chord. Hell, tune the middle octave to a major 3rd and the top octave to the 5th, and you have a full major chord! I have an 8-string, and the same principal doesn't really work without that extra string.

Nice vid :) the sound on a 12 string is amazing ! But on your video I truly prefer the 4 string + effects I can't hear any notable difference in the mids and highs but I would definaly recognize with the bass on the 4 string they're very much better cleaner , more dynamic I guess it's due to the fact that the 3 strings are so close together the bass string thumps the others and waste it's power but hey it's only my opinion ;) if i wanted that sort of sound i'd go for the 4+effect

  9. CALANTHE says:

if you want to add some dynamics, make your drummer get some synth drums and add some FXs

It's going to be a bit before I can get that recorded, so in the meantime, you can check out samples from our CD "Monarch" of the songs "Nighttime" and "Tenuous." Those are songs that have either no distortion in parts or just a lesser distortion, and might give you an idea of what it sounds like. You can hear samples at our web site or iTunes. Hope that helps!

  13. FREYA says:

Have you ever came across any 12 string basses that have doubled up strings as if it were a 6 string with octaves?

  15. Kaelynn says:

Hey Doc! I have them tuned equally, an E1 and 2 E2's. Maybe in writing future songs I'll mess around with alternate tunings!

  16. CALANTHE says:

one question amy, are both octave up strings tuned equally? For instance, you have an E1 and 2 E2's or an E1 and E2 and an E3?
